"Strictly Come Dancing" Series 5:

Keep up to date with all the news and information on series 5 of the BBC's hit show Strictly Come Dancing.

Series 5 begins on BBC1 prime time, Saturday 6th October 2007. The show will be run in a similar format as previous series, with 14 couples and 12 shows. Bruce Forsythe & Tess Daly will present the BBC 1 Saturday night programme.
Sunday nights will see the Strictly Results programme, airing on BBC1 for around 45 minutes.
BBC2 continues the "Behind the scenes" programme "Strictly Come Dancing - It takes two" presented once again by Claudia Winkleman. This show will air week nights 6.30pm - 7.00pm.

This series the format changes. The competition takes place on the Saturday night show, then the voting lines will be opened. On the Sunday night show, the two couples with the lowest scores after the judges & public votes are combined will have to perform a "dance off". Each will be allowed to perform their dance again and the judges will make the final decision on the couple to leave the competition. This format has been chosen as several strong competitors have left in the early weeks of past 4 series.
Week 1 sees the professional ladies and celebrity men battling it out to stay in the competition. Week 2 sees the professional men and celebrity ladies battling it out to stay in the competition. Week 3 onwards sees them all compete together.

Sport Relief Does Strictly Come Dancing 2008:

Helping to raise money for Sport Relief, past Strictly Come Dancing celebrity sports men and wonen took to the floor with new celebrities themselves. Taking to the floor after a weeks training - with a little help from the strictly Pro's were:

Christmas Special 2007:

The 2007 christmas special of Strictly Come Dancing took place on Tuesday 25th of December.
The top 4 couples from series 5 competed alongside Mark Ramprakash (SCD4 Winner) and Darren Gough (SCD3 Winner). Interestingly Darren Gough & Lilia Kopylova won - Darren claiming not to have danced for 2 years!. 2nd Place went to Gethin & Camilla.

  Bruno is a top choreographer and has worked on countless films, plays, music videos, commercials, concerts, trade shows and TV shows.

  Arlene is best known for her work on countless musicals, both in the UK and Worldwide.
• Judge 3 - Len Goodman (Pro Dancer/Judge)
  Len was a professional dancer and is now a professional judge. Len runs his own dance school in Kent.
• Judge 4 - Craig Revel Horwood (Choreographer)
  Craig is a top theatre choreographer and received an Olivier Award for his work on the West End musical Spend, Spend, Spend.

22nd December:

• Alesha Dixon & Matthew Cutler are winners of SCD series 5.
• The second placed couple Matt Di Angelo & Flavia Cacace put up an exceptional fight to the end, but ended up as runners up after the public vote.

• The thirteenth couple to go, leaving in the semi final are Camilla Dallerup & Gethin Jones, placing 3rd in the judges votes, and coming in the bottom 2 after the public vote along with Flavia Cacace & Matt Di Angelo. The judges decided that they were the weakest and were voted off.
• Next week the two remaining couples will dance their highest marked ballroom & Latin dance, plus a 'judges' choice dance, a Viennese Waltz & a Showdance.

• The twelfth couple to go are Darren Bennett & Letitia Dean, placing 3rd in the judges votes, and coming in the bottom 2 after the public vote along with Matthew Cutler & Alesha Dixon. The judges decided that they were the weakest and were voted off.
• Next week all the couples will dance Argentine Tango, plus one other dance each.

• Kelly Brook & Brendan Cole withdraw from the competition, due to a death in her family. Therefore they are the ninth couple to go.
• The tenth couple to go are Ola Jordan & Kenny Logan, placing 5th (last) in the judges votes, and coming in the bottom 2 after the public vote along with Darren Bennett & Letitia Dean. The judges decided that they were the weakest and were voted off.
• Next week all the couples will dance 2 more dances each.

• The eighth couple to go are Nicole Cutler & John Barnes, placing 7th (last) in the judges votes, and coming in the bottom 2 after the public vote along with Brendan Cole & Kelly Brook. The judges decided that they were the weakest and were voted off.
• Next week all the couples dance 2 dances, one ballroom and one latin that they have not yet performed.

• The seventh couple to go are Anton Du Beke & Kate Garraway, placing 8th (last) in the judges votes, and coming in the bottom 2 after the public vote along with Nicole Cutler & John Barnes. The judges decided that they were the weakest and were voted off.
• Next week all the couples dance another dance they have not yet performed.

• The sixth couple to go are Ian Waite & Penny Lancaster-Stewart, placing 7th= in the judges votes, and coming in the bottom 2 after the public vote along with Flavia Cacace & Matt Di Angelo. The judges decided that they were the weakest and were voted off.
• Next week all the couples dance a dance they have not yet performed.

• The fifth couple to go are Lilia Kopylova & Dominic Littlewood, placing 8th in the judges votes, and coming in the bottom 2 after the public vote along with Nicole Cutler & John Barnes. The judges decided that they were the weakest and were voted off.
• Next week all the couples dance either Viennese Waltz or Salsa.

• The fourth couple to go are James Jordan & Gabby Logan, placing 6th in the judges votes, and coming in the bottom 2 after the public vote along with Ian Waite & Penny Lancaster-Stewart. The judges were torn on this decision, finding it very unfair that two great dancers were in the bottom two, unfortunately deciding James & Gabby were the weakest and were voted off.
• Next week all the couples dance either Foxtrot or Paso Doble.

• The third couple to go are Erin Boag & Willie Thorne, placing 11th in the judges votes, and coming in the bottom 2 after the public vote along with Nicole Cutler & John Barnes. The judges decided that they were the weakest and were voted off.
• Next week all the couples dance either American Smooth or a Samba.

• The first couple to go from the Pro Men/Celeb Ladies are Vincent Simone & Stephanie Beacham, placing 5th in the judges votes, but coming in the bottom 2 after the public vote along with Darren Bennett & Letitia Dean. The judges decided that they were the weakest and were voted off.
• Next week all the couples dance together, either a Tango or Jive.

• The first couple to go from the Pro Ladies/Celeb Men are Karen Hardy & Brian Capron, placing last in the judges votes and remaining the lowest after the public vote and final vote off.
• Next week the pro men and celeb ladies dance a Rumba or Quickstep.

• SCD 5 Brand new format for results announced. The results show will now run on Sunday nights. This means that SCD will run 7 nights a week.
