"Strictly Come Dancing" Series :

Keep up to date with all the news and information on series 8 of the BBC's hit show Strictly Come Dancing.

Series 8 will air on BBC1 prime time, Saturdays, commencing with the launch show on 11th September. The first "Live" show weekend will air on 1st/2nd October. The show will follow a similar format to previous series, this time with 14 couples taking part.

The competition will initially air on Friday/Saturday nights. The first two weeks will see an accumulation of the scores, then the voting lines will be opened. This year there will be no "dance off", the couple with the lowest scores after the judges & public votes are combined will leave the competition.

This series will also feature a "Dance Troupe" of professional dancers to entertain with show stopping dance numbers. See below for further details on the dancers in the "Dance Troupe".

The three new Pro's are all men this year. This will be the very first experience of Strictly come dancing for Artem Chigvintsev (born in Moscow, Russia) who has taken part in the US version of "So You Think You Can Dance". Jared Murillo is US born, also new to Strictly and has been in Disney's "High School Musical" as well as having past success on the US Swing Dance Scene. Robin Winsor is a British born professional who has toured with Burn The Floor since 2003, also he has taken part in the Australian version of Strictly & "So You Think You Can Dance".

Two of the three men (Darren & Ian) are SCD regulars. Shem Jacobs joins with experience as a Pro working on the Polish "Dancing with the stars", also as a backing dancer for many popstars and TV programmes.
All three ladies are new to the UK Strictly. Crystal Main joins, having been involved with SCD South Africa, also an ex UK 10 dance champion and experienced cast member of touring dance shows such as "Simply Ballroom" & "Latin Fever".
Aneta Piotrowska joins with a dancesport background, as well as working on the Polish "Dancing with the stars", she used to compete with Derek Hough as an Amateur.
Tanya Perera joins with dancesport background, with experience on stage with "Dirty Dancing" and "Latin Fever".

The Judges:

Judge 1 - Bruno Tonioli (Choreographer)
Bruno is a top choreographer and has worked on countless films, plays, music videos, commercials, concerts, trade shows and TV shows.
Judge 2 - Alesha Dixon (Pop Singer & Former SCD Champion)
Alesha is best known for her singing career as well as winning Series 5 of Strictly.
Judge 3 - Len Goodman (Pro Dancer/Judge)
Len was a professional dancer and is now a professional judge. Len runs his own dance school in Kent.
Judge 4 - Craig Revel Horwood (Choreographer)
Craig is a top theatre choreographer and received an Olivier Award for his work on the West End musical Spend, Spend, Spend.

Gossip & Updates:

18th December:

Artem Chigvintsev & Kara Tointon are winners of SCD series 8, after beating Aliona & Matt with the public vote.
The second placed couple are Aliona Vilani & Matt Baker. Being placed 2nd in the judges scores after 4 dances. The public agreeing meaning they are runners up.
The third placed couple are James Jordan & Pamela Stephenson, leaving after two dances with top marks from the judges, but after the public vote they are placed 3rd.

12th December:

The semi final, two couples go tonight. The tenth couple to go are Katya Virshilas & Gavin Henson, placing 5th in the judges votes. The eleventh couple to go are Natalie Lowe & Scott Maslen, placing 3rd= in the judges votes.

5th December:

The ninth couple to go are Anton Du Beke & Ann Widdecombe, placing 6th in the judges votes, and coming in the bottom 2 after the public vote along with Natalie Lowe & Scott Maslen.

28th November:

The eighth couple to go are Robin Windsor & Patsy Kensit, placing 5th in the judges votes, and coming in the bottom 2 after the public vote along with Katya Virshilas & Gavin Henson.

21st November:

The seventh couple to go are Vincent Simone & Felicity Kendal, placing 5th in the judges votes, and coming in the bottom 2 after the public vote along with Robin Windsor & Patsy Kensit.

14th November:

The sixth couple to go are Brendan Cole & Michelle Williams, placing 8th in the judges votes, and coming in the bottom 2 after the public vote along with Vincent Simone & Felicity Kendal.
Next week the show will be live in Blackpool Tower Ballroom.

7th November:

The fifth couple to go are Flavia Cacace & Jimi Mistry, placing 4th in the judges votes, and coming in the bottom 2 after the public vote along with Brendan Cole & Michelle Williams.

31st October:

The fourth couple to go are Jared Murillo & Tina O'Brien, placing 7th in the judges votes, and coming in the bottom 2 after the public vote along with Vincent Simone & Felicity Kendal.

24th October:

The third couple to go are Erin Boag & Peter Shilton OBE, placing 12th in the judges votes, and coming in the bottom 2 after the public vote along with Ian Waite & Michelle Williams.

18th October:

Michelle Williams will be partnered by Ian Waite in next weeks Tango. This is due to an urgent family matter for Brendan Cole.

17th October:

The second couple to go are Ola Jordan & Paul Daniels, placing 12th in the judges votes, and coming in the bottom 2 after the public vote along with Brendan Cole & Michelle Williams.
Jared Murillo & Tina O'Brien did not dance this week, due to illness. They have a bye to next week, when they must dance or face elimination.
Next week the all of the couples dance a Charleston or Tango.

10th October:

The first couple to go are Kristina Rihanoff & Goldie, placing 11th in the judges votes over the first two weeks, and coming in the bottom 2 after the public vote along with Brendan Cole & Peter Shilton OBE.
Next week the all of the couples dance a Quickstep or Rumba.

11th September:

26th August:

First show will air on 11th September and will serve to introduce the celebrities and Professionals.

11th June:
