"Strictly Come Dancing" Series :

Keep up to date with all the news and information on series 8 of the BBC's hit show Strictly Come Dancing.

Series 8 will air on BBC1 prime time, saturdays, commencing with the launch show on 11th September. The first "Live" show will air 3 weeks later. The show will follow a similar format to previous series, this time with 14 couples taking part.
The BBC have recently announced the professionals who will be partnering celebrities. Please see below for further details.
This series will also feature a "Dance Troupe" of professional dancers to entertain with show stopping dance numbers. See below for further details on the dancers in the "Dance Troupe"

The three new Pro's are all men this year. This will be the very first experience of Strictly come dancing for Artem Chigvintsev (born in Moscow, Russia) who has taken part in the US version of "So You Think You Can Dance". Jared Murillo is US born, also new to Strictly and has been in Disney's "High School Musical" as well as having past success on the US Swing Dance Scene. Robin Winsor is a British born professional who has toured with Burn The Floor since 2003, also he has taken part in the Australian version of Strictly & "So You Think You Can Dance".

Two of the three men (Darren & Ian) are SCD regulars. Shem Jacobs joins with experience as a Pro working on the Polish "Dancing with the stars", also as a backing dancer for many popstars and TV programmes.
All three ladies are new to the UK Strictly. Crystal Main joins, having been involved with SCD South Africa, also an ex UK 10 dance champion and experienced cast member of touring dance shows such as "Simply Ballroom" & "Latin Fever".
Aneta Piotrowska joins with a dancesport background, as well as working on the Polish "Dancing with the stars", she used to compete with Derek Hough as an Amateur.
Tanya Perera joins with dancesport background, with experience on stage with "Dirty Dancing" and "Latin Fever".

The Judges:

Judge 1 - Bruno Tonioli (Choreographer)
Bruno is a top choreographer and has worked on countless films, plays, music videos, commercials, concerts, trade shows and TV shows.
Judge 2 - Alesha Dixon (Pop Singer & Former SCD Champion)
Alesha is best known for her singing career as well as winning Series 5 of Strictly.
Judge 3 - Len Goodman (Pro Dancer/Judge)
Len was a professional dancer and is now a professional judge. Len runs his own dance school in Kent.
Judge 4 - Craig Revel Horwood (Choreographer)
Craig is a top theatre choreographer and received an Olivier Award for his work on the West End musical Spend, Spend, Spend.

First show will air on 11th September and will serve to introduce the celebrities and Professionals.
