Christmas Special 2009:

The 2009 Christmas special of Strictly Come Dancing took place on Friday 25th of December.
The top 3 couples from series 7 competed alongside Rachel Stevens (SCD6 Runner Up), Austin Healy (SCD6 contestant) and Gethin Jones (SCD5 Semi Finalist). After the judges voted, the audience also had their say and it resulted in a resounding win for Brian Fortuna & Ali Bastian.

The couples were as follows:

• Natalie Lowe & Ricky Whittle (SCD7 Runners Up)
• Ola Jordan & Chris Hollins (SCD7 Winners)

Christmas Special 2008:

The 2008 Christmas special of Strictly Come Dancing took place on Thursday 25th of December.
The top 3 couples from series 6 competed alongside Alesha Dixon (SCD5 Winner), Kelly Brook (SCD5 contestant) and Jill Halfpenny (SCD2 Winner). After the judges placed 4 couples equal 1st place with 39 points, the studio audience cast their votes to see Darren Bennett & Jill Halfpenny win, with Kelly Brook & Brian Fortuna in 2nd Place.

The couples were as follows:

Sport Relief Does Strictly Come Dancing 2008:

Helping to raise money for Sport Relief, past Strictly Come Dancing celebrity sports men and women took to the floor with new celebrities themselves. Taking to the floor after a weeks training - with a little help from the strictly Pro's were:

• Matt Dawson (SCD4 Runner Up) & Elaine Paige (Singer)
• Darren Gough (SCD3 Winner) & Gemma Bissix (Actress)

Christmas Special 2007:

The 2007 Christmas special of Strictly Come Dancing took place on Tuesday 25th of December.
The top 4 couples from series 5 competed alongside Mark Ramprakash (SCD4 Winner) and Darren Gough (SCD3 Winner). Interestingly Darren Gough & Lilia Kopylova won - Darren claiming not to have danced for 2 years!. 2nd Place went to Gethin & Camilla.
The couples were as follows:

Christmas Special 2006:

The 2006 christmas special of Strictly Come Dancing took place on Monday 25th of December at 6.20pm, then again at 8pm on BBC1.
The top 4 couples from series 4 competed alongside Colin Jackson and Zoe Ball from Series 3. Interestingly the Series 3 competitors managed to beat all those from Series 4. With Colin & Erin Winning and Zoe & Ian in second place.
The couples were as follows:

Christmas Special 2005:

The 2005 christmas special of Strictly Come Dancing took place on Saturday 24th of December at 6.25pm on BBC1.
It took the top 4 couples in series 3 and pitted them against the top 2 dancers from SCD USA.
The couples were as follows:

• Lilia Kopylova & Darren Gough (SCD3) Winners
• Erin Boag & Colin Jackson (SCD3)
• Ian Waite & Zoe Ball (SCD3)
• Camilla Dallerup & James Martin (SCD3)
• Brendan Cole & Rachel Hunter (USA)
• Karen Hardy & Evander Holyfied (USA)

Strictly African Dancing:

Another SCD spin off show aired on Saturday July 9th 2005 on BBC1 - "Strictly African Dancing". The main show aired at 6.30pm and the results show at 8.15pm.
The show consisted of 6 celebrities of African or Caribbean origin paired with an African dance troupe performing on live TV - a traditional African dance. The celebrities were in traditional costume and once again were judged by a panel of experts.
The presenters were Natasha Kaplinsky (former SCD winner) and Martin Offiah (former SCD competitor). The following celebrities took part:

• 1st Robbie Earle - Winner (Broadcaster) and Former Footballer
• 2nd Antonia Okonma - (Actress) Bad Girl's, 'Darlene'
• 3rd Tessa Sanderson - (Athlete) Former Olympic Athlete
• 4th Tupele Dorgu - (Actress) Coronation Street's 'Kelly Crabtree'
• 5th Louis Emerick - (Actor) from 'Casualty' & 'Brookside'
• 6th Tunde Baiyewu - (Singer) 'Lighthouse Family'

Christmas Special 2004:

The 2004 christmas special of Strictly Come Dancing took place on Wednesday the 22nd of December at 8pm & 10pm on BBC1.
It took the form of a "Champion of Champions" competition, with 6 couples, 3 from series 1 & 3 from series 2 taking part.
They were as follows:

• Brendan Cole & Natasha Kaplinsky (SCD1)
• Anton Du Beke & Lesley Garrett (SCD1)
• Martin Offiah & Erin Boag (SCD1)

Strictly Ice Dancing:

Also at christmas a special spin-off show 'Strictly Ice Dancing' put celebrities through their paces as would-be professional ice-skaters. This programme aired on Boxing Day (26th December 2004) at 6.30 pm on BBC1.
The show worked in a similar way to "Strictly Come Dancing", with 4 judges:

• Craig Revel Horwood (Choreographer & familiar face on SCD)
• Doreen Hoppe (former National and International ice dance competitor)
• Nicky Slater (former ice dance National champion & ranked fifth in the World)
• Chris Howarth (former British figure skating champion)

• 1st David Seaman (Footballer)* & Zoia Birmingham Winners
• 2nd Jessica Taylor (Singer - Liberty X) & Robert Burgerman
• 3rd Scarlett Johnson (Eastenders Actor - Vicki Fowler) & Daniel Whiston
